LE SYSTÈME CONSONANTIQUE DU MAYAA, DIALECTE SÃ́N, PARLER DE BANGASSOGO (SPB)

Résumé

Abstract: The phonological analysis of the consonantal segments of Mayaa
(the sã́n dialect spoken in Bangassogo), has been carried out on each unit
according to whether it is considered under the paradigmatic axis or under
the syntagmatic axis. This resulted in 18 consonant phonemes. We used two
types of definitions: the definition according to the opposing features and the
definition according to the contrastive feature. In the definition according to
the oppositional features each phoneme has been defined in relation to its
place of articulation, its mode of articulation, its sonority and its nasality. The
definition according to the contrastive features has demonstrated that all the
phonemes of the SPB have the trait of laxness. In addition to this feature, the
phonemes / k, d, g, s, n / have friction and vibration features.
